“I already trained as a coach with another provider and I decided to do this course to add youth coaching to my portfolio.

This course opened my eyes to what I really needed to know to get out there and be an effective Life and Youth Coach. Thank you so much, every coach should take this programme

Dr Michelle Pyman,

Hello Youth Coach,

There are so many people who work with and or care for young people yet are so frustrated with their efforts to make any positive difference in the lives of the young people they genuinely care for (dare we say love)

Imagine being able to access and use tools that the most effective coaches who work with celebrities and large corporate organisations are using and being paid handsomely for, because they get the results they require!

Imagine being able to utilise these to support your young people to reconnect/ create and realise their aspirations

This course was created following the murder of a 15 year old boy in East London, UK in 2001. The whole of the year 11 group pioneered a personal and community development process to support each other during such a challenging period, led by Harry Singha, Chairman of the Youth Coaching Academy.

One young boy of 15 asked Harry how he could become a coach.

This inspired Harry to create a course which, would cover everything that other life coaching courses had and add to it the essentials for coaching young people under 18

Harry dedicated the next three months to create that course. The Youth Coaching Course (YCC) was born, it was awarded a level 3 accreditation by the Open College Network (OCN), the highest level for any coaching course!

There have been a few versions since then as we continue to add value both in the content and delivery.

There are now two routes to study the Youth Coaching Course via either:

•    Live training - five days residential - £3,997

[£2,997 for the non residential programmes]

or

•     The Home Study Programme  - £1,497

What is Youth Coaching?

Simply put it is the process of supporting a young person, using dynamc tools and models to identify clear goals, then ascertain where they are in relation to their goal/s, then create a create some measurable action steps to move even closer to their desired goals. Ultimately to realise their goals . Youth Coaching is now becoming recognised as one of the most effective ways to support young people.

Coaching increases self-awareness, improves relationships, boosts emotional intelligence and encourages individuals to find their own solutions. The DFES and the National College for School Leadership are producing literature on the evidence of coaching in youth establishments. The governments transforming youth work agenda clearly states the requirement for youth services to carry accreditation and hence anyone considering coaching young people within an educational or youth establishments may not get a look in without it.

Who are the Youth Coaching Academy?

The Academy are the pioneers of Youth Coaching and have the only pool of accredited youth and youth peer coaches. With a Head Office in the UK, the Academy has trained thousands of adults and young people from around the world. Led by Harry Singha the Academy is at the forefront of creating community coaching programmes where Youth/Youth Peer Coaches provide sustainable youth coaching services for their communities.

Here’s what others are saying about Harry and the Academy

Stephen Timms

"I have enormous respect for the work of Harry Singha and the team at the Youth Coaching Academy. I have seen for myself clear evidence of the effectiveness of the Academy's innovative programmes in meeting the personal and community development needs of schools and young people. As the importance of personal development is recognised more and more widely, the Academy will play an increasingly prominent role."

Stephen Timms, MP,
Former Chief Secretary to the Treasury

Deepak Chopra

“Harry follow your bliss, to inspire youth to its full potential”

Deepak Chopra,
MD and best selling author

Debbie

““I have experienced the greatest professional joy you could imagine over the last few days as I have worked with, grown with, trusted and honoured the young people of Coundon Court School.  The journey we have started together is immeasurable and its ripple effect potentially phenomenal.  For our pupils to be able to inspire, coach and support not only each other (peers) but also adults from within the school and outside shows their enormous potential to transform so much within the world.  We need to believe in them, we need to let go of our fears and our limiting structures and allow them to dig deep into their hearts to contribute what they are so capable of giving.
This should be a part of all community and school curriculums and needs to be shouted about and shared “

Debbie Morrison OBE, Head Teacher Coundon Court School, Coventry, UK

“We are extremely proud of our seven pupils who achieved accreditation and are now providing a core support service to fellow pupils to learn, achieve and succeed even more”

Yvonne Powell,
Head Teacher, Little Ilford School, London, UK

“It’s been great to be able to help my school and my fellow pupils by being a youth peer coach, and seeing my own grades and overall performance improving has made me really proud of myself”

Vanessa Laurent-G rant,
Youth Peer Coach (15 years old)

Neil Asher

"Harry has changed the way New Insights coaches think about coaching our nations youth, his passion and inspiration for making a difference are nothing short of magnetic! If you want to learn how to work with young adults you MUST learn from the best and the best is Harry Singha"

Neil Asher
M. D. New Insights

Jonathan Jay

"Harry as a graduate of one of our first ever courses is a great ambassador for The Coaching Academy and he is undoubtedly one of the leading authorities on youth coaching."

Jamie Oliver

“I am really proud to be the Patron of the Youth Coaching Academy and I passionately believe in the potential of all young people to make a positive difference in their own lives and those of their peers.”

Jamie Oliver,

Who will be on the course and why should you?

The course is designed for anyone who has a passion for supporting young people and will have a diversity of participants. Previous courses have included people with little experience of working with young people from fitness trainers, builders, retail mangers, media producers and dancers to name a few. The majority of participants will be from the following disciplines:

·    Connexions personal advisors

·    Youth workers,

·    Careers advisors,

·    Student support workers,

·    Youth Offending Team workers

·    Youth counsellors

·    Youth drugs workers

·    Outreach/community workers

·    Youth mediators

·    Learning mentors

If you are serious about delivering formal coaching within your work setting and or setting up your own youth coaching practice then the Youth Coaching Course is the perfect route for you. With the added value of an external accreditation with the Open College Network you will be ahead of your competitors as the governments transforming youth work agenda clearly stipulates the need for accreditation. Those without it may not even get a look in especially if offering your services to an educational or youth environment.
