It wasn’t until December 2001 that I really took any action. Like most people who procrastinate... it took a moment of desperation and inspiration to get me to do something.
Sadly, it took the murder of a 15 year-old boy from my old school to get me to take action.
I worked with the whole school and local community through that incredibly challenging period... with phenomenal results!
At the end I was challenged by a group of 15 and 16 year olds with a question...
“Harry, how do we become life coaches like you?”
That really hurt me.
It hurt me because I realised this whole time I’d been satisfied with the ego-boost of being the guy who's taking coaching to young people... and at that time I’d only written an essay on it!
So there I was...
Most of these 15 and 16 year-olds had no real desire to do anything when they left school, and they’d become inspired to become life coaches and help other young people!
What could I say to them?
“Sorry you have to be over 18 and pay £3,000 for it!” (like most other coaching programmes)
NO WAY! Before I could even think, the words just jumped out of my mouth!
And I said…
“By the time you leave school there will be a course for you all to become coaches”

We then began to train other adults as youth coaches, and also young people between the age of 12 and 17 as ‘Youth Peer Coaches.’
